The Quinta do Relógio was built in 1860 under the direction of the architect Cinatti de Siena for His Royal Highness King Fernando II. In the gardens of the villa stands a clock tower that gave its name to the estate.
The Quinta do Relógio consists of a palace, a clock tower and several outbuildings, about 40 rooms together.
The site is currently owned by the heirs of His Royal Highness D. João I and D. Filipa de Lancastre, Queen of Portugal, and is under the protection of the Office of Architectural Heritage of the Municipality of Oeiras.
Quinta do Relógio has a neoclassical language and atmosphere present in the luxurious decorations of the buildings, surrounded by huge and dense vegetation, among which several species of special plants (araucaria, sycamores and dracena).
The estate is situated on several levels of ground elevation. The main building is built in two plans with palatial proportions and unique elements, such as the symmetry of the plans, the sequence of spaces formed by the porch, the hallway and the staircase illuminated by the skylight
The rooms of Quinta do Relógio have spectacular ocean views and direct access to the garden.
